Fixed tube plate type heat exchanger
It is simple in structure and requires low manufacture costs. The smallest inner diameter of the shell can be achieved. The tube pass can be in multi-steps;the shell pass may also be in double. It allows a wide range of specifications, and therefore, is widely used in projects. The disadvantage is that the shell pass cannot be cleaned or examined easily. Therefore, it is not fit for use where the media are dirty or corrosive. It is fit for use where no serious stain accumulation will occur on the shell pass or where chemical cleaning is possible. Where the difference of heat expansion is big, expansion joints can be devised on the shell to reduce the stress of heat produced due to the temperature difference between the tube and shell pass.
